Tawafuq: A Miracle in the Script of the Qur’an

Abstract

This paper aims to introduce one of many miraculous aspects of the Holy Qur’an – “tawafuq” which means congruous alignment of certain words and phrases on the pages of a certain Qur'an copy that is called “the Qur’an in Tawafuq” (“Tevafuklu Kur’an” in Turkish) which was handwritten by Ahmed Husrev Efendi, the successor of Imam Bediuzzaman Said Nursi. For this purpose, first the importance and value of the script of the Qur'an is expounded with references and arguments. Then the discovery of “ayat barkanar” that has changed the writing and printing of the Qur'an copies all over the world is detailed. Tawafuq concept in general is covered to be understood better. And finally, the discovery of the tawafuq miracle by Imam Nursi in the script of the Qur'an and its writing process are covered, and instances of tawafuq in Husrev script are introduced and discussed. It is resulted that the tawafuq is a kind of miraculous aspect of the Holy Qur’an seen by the eye.
