On the Foundations of Understanding Prophetic Hadiths According to Imam Said Nursi

Abstract

This article discusses the twelve foundational principles established by Imam Said Nursi to dispel misconceptions surrounding certain prophetic hadiths related to the signs of the Hour, tribulations, the Antichrist, the Sufyani, and other eschatological and future-related matters. The study addresses the status of the Sunnah in Islamic legislation and its paramount importance, while also confronting contemporary attempts to undermine both the Sunnah and the stature of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The research adopts an analytical and comparative methodology, referencing the contributions of scholars such as Muhammad Hamidullah and Muhammad Mustafa Al-A'zami. Among its key findings is the affirmation of the Sunnah's authoritative status and its reliability in terms of documentation and transmission from the prophetic era through the times of the Companions and their successors.
