Faith and its role in supporting the concept of humanity through the Risale-i Nur

Abstract

This article explores the intrinsic relationship between faith and the concept of humanity, drawing upon the Qur'anic worldview and the spiritual interpretations found in Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s Risale-i Nur. It argues that humanistic values, when detached from belief in God, the Afterlife, and prophetic guidance, lack the moral depth and coherence necessary for meaningful societal development. Through Qur’anic narratives and historical examples, the study demonstrates that civilizations devoid of divine direction often descend into injustice and moral decay, whereas faith-based civilizations thrive on spiritual foundations. The paper also emphasizes the transformative impact of the Risale-i Nur in reorienting human consciousness toward divine purpose and asserts that faith is not an alternative to humanism but a fundamental pillar that supports and empowers it. The conclusion posits that spiritual frameworks are essential for grounding and activating genuine humanitarian ethics.
