Abstract

Said Nursi is a significant figure in the history of Islamic thought in Turkey, known as a pioneer of Islamic education and social reform. In the modern context, the challenges faced by Muslims, such as secularism and social change, require innovative approaches in education and social awareness. Therefore, it is essential to explore Nursi's contributions to building community awareness through education.

This research aims to examine Said Nursi's contributions to Islamic education and social reform, as well as their impact on increasing community awareness in Turkey.

This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews with educators in institutions inspired by Nursi's teachings, classroom observations, and analysis of related documentation. The results of the interviews and observations were analyzed to identify key themes related to Nursi's thought and its implementation in education.

The findings indicate that Nursi's teachings have influenced teaching methods in educational institutions, encouraging the integration of spiritual and moral values into the curriculum. Educators reported that Nursi's thought helps students understand religion more deeply and relevantly in the face of contemporary challenges. Additionally, the study found that Nursi's teachings contribute to increased social awareness among students, encouraging them to actively participate in society.

This research concludes that Said Nursi's thought has a significant impact on Islamic education and social reform in Turkey. Nursi's contributions to building community awareness through education are highly relevant in the context of modern challenges faced by Muslim society. This study provides new insights into the importance of integrating spiritual values in education to enhance social and moral awareness among the youth.

This research contributes to the development of studies on Islamic education and social reform, providing guidance for educators and policymakers in designing curricula that are more responsive to community needs.
