Abstract

The vision of Imam Bediüzzaman Said Nursi for Islamic unity is considered one of the fundamental pillars of his thought. This article presents this vision through three main axes: principles, foundations, and obstacles. As for the principles, they are:

The Holy Quran and the Sunnah; Nursi bases his vision of Islamic unity on the Quran and the Sunnah, considering that unity among Muslims is a divine command and a religious duty.

Islamic Creed; He also believes that the Islamic creed, including faith in Allah, His Messenger, the Day of Judgment, and related beliefs, forms the strong foundation upon which Muslims should build their unity.

Nursi cites periods of strength and honor in the history of Muslims when they were united and cohesive, emphasizing that unity was a primary reason for these prosperous times.

Nursi sees that spreading awareness and correct religious education are among the most important foundations for achieving unity, as they instill in people a love for religion and Islamic brotherhood. Achieving justice and equality among Muslims is considered a fundamental foundation for unity, as class differences should be eliminated, and wealth should be distributed fairly.

Finally, Imam Nursi's vision for Islamic unity stems from his deep belief that unity is the way to achieve the Islamic renaissance and restore strength and honor to Muslims. This vision is based on religious and historical foundations and requires specific components to achieve it, as well as facing challenges and obstacles that must be overcome.
